Productivity on a Saturday night?

I went out with the ever-lovely Joleen Saturday night, and while she was outside having a cigarette, I felt compelled to write. So I grabbed the nearest paper product, which happened to be the envelope containing the receipt of my PECO payment, and came up with this:

Kickin' it on a Saturday night
Everything's alright
Alright
The beer is fine
The talk is mine
And it's sailing like a
Paper glider
Man, I wish I had a cider
Put my hair up and
Think of another line
To make it fine fine
Fine
I wish I could go over and talk to you
But the words won't come out,
So I sit
And write this instead
The music of my
Past invades my
Present, while I wish that you were in my
Future, some way, some how
Isn't it amazing how a
Saturday night got me to
Start writing again
In a bar
While I sip on a beer
And keep my eyes peeled in your direction
Why don't you come over and say hello?

I don't know if I want to make any changes to it. It was really an exercise to get me playing with a little pen and paper again.

6/25 - I made one minor change for clarity's sake, but I think I'm keeping the rest of it the way it is.

Guess what you'll find

This is going to be the new home of my Ministry of Doom page, formerly know as "Sound of the Voice". I'm still thinking about tinkering with the title, so any and all suggestions are gladly welcome.

Why am I doing this? (Well, if you're asking, you must be a new reader, so welcome!) I'm doing this because my former site's incarnation is fast approaching five years old. While in human years, that's barely kindergarten level, around the 'net, it's a creepy old man with a cane offering you hard candies to suck on...Take that metaphor for what you will. I wanted change, something fresh, a new start. As change and new directions seem to be the theme for my year, I figure it should certainly include my site. With the help of another awesome minister, I'll be changing around what I've got to what I want, and in the end, everybody wins! (Hooray!)

My goal with the latest incarnation is still a little bit up in the air, but I'd like to continue with my somewhat humorous postings, work on my craft a little bit, and perhaps make it a bit of a column format. There will likely be commentary on current event goings-on from time to time as well. The poetry, of course, will still continue...as long as I keep writing it...which I'm planning to! I hope everyone will stick around for the ride, and perhaps bring some new friends.
